1 pkg 8 oz elbow macaroni (or roughly 3 cups)
1/4 c butter
1/4 c flour
2 c milk
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
Cook and drain macaroni. In a shallow 1 1/2 quart pan (my 8x8 works too) layer macaroni and 1 1/2 cups cheese and white sauce.
White sauce: in a saucepan melt butter, flour, salt, pepper, and milk. Bring to a boil for 1 minute. Pour sauce over mac and cheese layers.
Bake 375 degrees 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted and slightly golden brown.
Broccoli just tastes so good with homemade Mac and Cheese. This is a family favorite, but we add a bit of Worcestershire sauce (about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon) to the white sauce. I also think my recipe omits butter. Hmm...I will have to give yours a try.
